Wilks' Walks

David Wilkinson is grateful to those who attended his walks over the past two seasons, but the attendances in 2009 were very disappointing. There are no plans to continue Wilks' Walks in 2010 or beyond. .

David may be able to organise guided walks around various routes in central Staffordshire for groups of 20 or more. This may be of interest to historical or archaeological societies, women's institutes or any club or society. It may be possible to orgainise a walk during a weekday evening in the summer or on weekend afternoons during late spring, summer or early autumn subject to permission being obtained from land owners.

If you organise events or outings for a club or society or want further information please do not hesitate to telephone to discuss possible walks. Walks may include churches, parks, earthworks, monuments, ruined buildings, standing buildings and canals. Sources of information include maps, history and archaeology. David normally charges a fee of £40 although some walks incur an additional charge of £1.50 per person.

David Wilkinson also gives illustrated talks using powerpoint. These include Tens Steps to Time Team; The Origins of Stafford; Medieval Watermills of Staffordshire; Medieval Moats of Staffordshire; Monastic Sites of Staffordshire; The Discovery of Stafford Castle.
